“For those who love, nothing is too difficult, especially when it is done for the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
― Saint Ignatius |
The word saved is recorded 104 times in the entire Bible out of 104 verses. Being saved is to be rescued. In spiritual terms, saved means to be rescued from death. The Bible says that anyone who calls on Jesus will be saved (Acts 2:21). |
SAVED, Rescued, recovered are just a few words that I think of when I think of being saved... Saved has not been a word that I have ever used in my journey, but I hear it often. So, what does it truly mean? It’s my understanding that we are all sinners and to truly want redemption we must humble ourselves and ask our Savior to save us?
The question I have is save us from what? We all suffer from different things that go bump in the night, life trials, or temptations that will leave us broken, battered, afraid or we have this unexplainable void or sadness in our soul. Somethings can be severe, others are measured at different degrees by the person’s strength and willingness to endure pain or uncertainties alone...
Being saved is that breath of fresh air that gives you HOPE and unshakable security in your soul knowing you are not alone. You are indeed in the best hands possible. You are loved unconditionally no matter what stage of life you may be in. It’s my belief, our Savior saves us from ourselves along with the temptations of the world.
These temptations and demons from within can be so subtle we ourselves cannot even recognize them. I then think how does one actually achieve this amazing security and LOVE? The beauty is we need to only humble ourselves and ask our Savior with our whole heart to save us. Some accomplish this by reciting the sinner’s prayer, some find him through his word, some find guidance through the church. I have found there is a multitude of “how’s” and I feel none are wrong. As long as you ask him to save you and to come into your life, the result of being saved is accomplished.
However, once you have asked, that is only the beginning. If you are true of heart in the request, change and growth is inevitable. It then becomes our commitment to further open our hearts and our souls and welcome our Savior in. Through our gift of the Holy Spirit, our Savior will teach and guides us through the changes that will occur. These changes will draw you closer to him. And as you travel this unchartered territory of the heart.
You will become a child of God and take residence in his Heart. And this word SAVED will take on new meaning. It will mean, no matter where you are in your journey you are loved unconditionally. Your Savior will fill you with joy from within. And you will acquire a peace that is unexplainable to the world and people around you. So, walk in confidence and open your heart and just ASK him to save you... And you will find that treasure of how life should truly be lived. and you will never be alone!! He will be with you always.
“ The Lord will save everyone who asks him to help them.”
