"His life a ransom for many" Matthew 20:28
The word mission is in the Bible 59 times.
Meaning of mission: The biblical concept is expressed by the use of verbs meaning "to send, " normally with God as the expressed subject.
Wow, I am standing on the ocean shore. waves are ripping and rolling so majestically with such power and grace. But as I stand watching this fascinating wonder. My mind drifted to today’s word study “mission”. My mind opened to the memory of a beautiful love story and my thoughts drifted to a man with a mission for all mankind.
His mission was planned by our heavenly Father. He sent a part of Himself to earth to show us how to love and how to live.
Did He have a choice? He could have said no I am not going. Let them figure it out. I am comfortable here in heaven. Why would I subject myself to such things?
I feel that He came because of Love. Love is the very essence of who He is. Possessing this vast ability to love there was no way He would not come and try to rescue His children. He wanted to make sure that what He asks of us was and is indeed attainable.
I see Him much like the ocean. His love swept like the tide through cities, countries, and our world. He walked the walk not just talked the talk.
I do feel that we are all programmed to yearn for Him. There is such a human pull on the heart. And until you find Him there will always be unrest in your soul.
Your soul innately searches for the warmth of His love. You crave to feel the mist of Him in the salty breeze upon our faces. You stand in awe of the beauty He brings. He leaves you speechless.
When we look at His life on earth, and the last words He uttered “it is finished” ... Such words bring us to a statement of undying LOVE ...
His Kingly mission was never aborted no matter how difficult it became, no matter the trials He faced. He completed it to letter. It is the most amazing gift and it what He was born to do.
However, with every end, there is a new beginning. So, when we look upon the ocean, we see a horizon that seems to stretch for eternity, as the waves continue to roll ashore, they give us hope for a brighter tomorrow. We see Him and His creations in every wave, we hear His voice in the roaring tide. And as He fills our souls with His love, our focus becomes Him!!!
He is the ultimate LOVE. And I have found that Love can not survive without giving it away. It can not exist and in time will perish. He needs and craves to Love His children just as much as we need Him. It truly is
a match made in heaven.
It’s Him It’s always Him
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV
So, Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. John 7:16
The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29
Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty.” a jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:28 NLT
