The meaning of watch: To look at or observe attentively over a period of time.
The word "watch" is used 61 times in the King James Version of the Bible.
"Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming." Matthew 24:42
In these tumultuous times of uncertainty, many of us yearn for our Lord's glorious return. Do we find ourselves gazing up at the skies with a heartfelt longing to behold His radiant face? Do we watch with eyes filled with tearful anticipation? Or are we crying out to our Savior from the depths of our souls…
I must admit I've become a star-gazer, as my heart yearns to witness this eagerly awaited event! When will our majestic King make His triumphant entrance? Will heaven and earth tremble in awe of His mighty presence? I can only close my eyes and let my imagination paint a vivid picture in my mind, inspired by words written so long ago...
He will return in His glorious, radiant physical form, not just in spirit or symbol. Unlike His humble first appearance, He will radiate in full glory, triumphantly in every aspect of a mighty warrior King.
Oh, let me be enveloped in this jubilant moment! Let me behold Him with my spiritual eyes! Let me study His every move. Let my heart resound as His love descends into my soul like gentle rain. Let all of my thoughts be immersed in this glorious moment!
Until this radiant day dawns, I will vigilantly watch for His glorious return…. This heartfelt longing in my soul will never be satisfied until He returns…. He takes my spirit places that my human mind finds it difficult to comprehend.
It’s Him! It will always be Him….
“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
Acts 1:9, 11 KJV
