Hollow

Can beauty be born from emptiness?

The word hollow means having a hole or empty space inside. Tonight, as I sat quietly, the word arrived like a whisper—and echoed through the still chambers of my mind.

I was reminded of a movie I watched a few weeks ago. It told the story of a mother desperately trying to save her very ill daughter. They lived a quiet life on a farm. One day, the little girl’s sister invited her to climb an old, twisted tree.

As they sat there, the tree cracked—and the sick child fell into the hollow of its trunk.

The town rallied. Search teams came. And while her mother prayed, the girl remained trapped for hours. Miraculously, she was rescued with no injury. But the greater miracle was this: she was healed completely, and later spoke of heavenly things.

That memory stirred a deeper question in me:

Does God show up in the hollows of our lives? Does He fill the emptiness with His love? Does His healing touch flow through the cracks, the voids, the silences?

Does He choose to dwell in the shadows of our minds… illuminating the darkest corners??… He gently, miraculously, gives us rest?

There are times when I wonder if these glimpses I see in my mind are His majestic presence filling the hollows of my mind with beautiful dreams and visions of wonder.

So, with that thought, I am closing my eyes and whispering with my heart:

Dear Heavenly Father, fill the hollows of my mind with your splendor, as my soul rejoices in your presence til morning light.

It’s Him. It will always be Him.

The Bible often contrasts the “hollow” with the “whole”—reminding us that emptiness is not the absence of God, but the invitation for Him to come and fill us with His truth, His healing, and His love.

“But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.” - Luke 5:16 (ESV)

‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. - Acts 2:17

Possess

“To be possessed by God is the ultimate freedom—where love takes over, and nothing else satisfies.”—Anonymous

The New Testament speaks of the Holy Spirit possessing believers, empowering them to live a holy life. And on an even deeper level, Scripture calls us God’s special possession.

This word "possess" has been resting on my heart.

He created all things…

So, does He possess me?

Or do I, in some divine mystery, possess Him?

The day love fell from heaven into my soul, I felt a love unlike anything I had ever known. He was gentle. He was kind. And in that sacred moment, He took up residence in my heart and soul.

Life has never been the same.

Is this a constant spiritual dance? Am I the chaser—or the one being chased?

He has left a yearning in my soul to know Him more. Does this love shift with the tide? At times, His presence is so strong that it feels as if I’m completely overtaken, possessed by Him. It overwhelms my very being.

He leaves me with a thirst I cannot quench.

What is this influence He seems to have over my life? Or have I, perhaps, willingly given over every facet of my existence to a love deeper and more profound than any I have ever known?

There is a constant loving pull on my soul.

With just one whisper…

One touch…

I am undone.

Saying we are possessed by our Creator may sound strange...

Yet we were already His long before we ever knew Him.

Will these souls ever fully intertwine?

One thing I know…

It’s Him.

It’s always Him.

“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine…”—Song of Songs 6:3

Spiritual Meaning of “Possess”

In our earthly understanding, to possess often implies control or ownership. But in the spiritual realm, divine possession is not about domination...it’s about union, intimacy, and belonging.

When the Bible speaks of believers being God’s possession, it’s a declaration of identity and covenant. We are His, not by force, but by love. Through the Holy Spirit, He doesn’t just walk beside us...He dwells within us. This indwelling is not cold ownership; it’s the warm embrace of divine love taking root in our soul.

To be possessed by God is to be fully known, fully loved, and continually pursued. It’s the holy intertwining of two souls...Creator and creation in a sacred dance of surrender.

It is not losing yourself.

It is finding who you were always meant to be…

In Him.

Sustainer

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15-17 NIV

In the Bible, "sustain" primarily means to support, maintain, or keep something in existence, often in the context of God's provision and care for His creation.

The Bible frequently depicts God as the ultimate Sustainer, actively maintaining all things through His power and word.

We discovered eight verses that point to the word sustain.

What enables Him to sustain such unconditional love for His creations? Does He not feel distressed and disappointed by the worldly events? How does He not succumb to frustration and say I give up???

How does He maintain all things?

I am filled with heartfelt gratitude for His boundless love! But even more, I am grateful for Him!! All of Him, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! At some point on this journey, He lovingly dismantled the walls I had built through life's trials... and as I humbly stood before Him, scared and vulnerable, I surrendered my heart and fell in love with Him!!

But I recall I panicked and exclaimed, What will people think? I'm in love with God! Is that crazy? Yet, embracing this divine love, the world around me dissolved, and I began to open my eyes and truly see beauty surrounding my life. Each new day presented endless possibilities! I felt an inexplicable, powerful love. Could this truly be deemed crazy? It's undoubtedly the most precious gift we can receive! How do we sustain this love? How do we nurture it and make it grow?

As in any relationship, you begin by showing up each day with a heart full of longing! You want to know facts about His life and how He relates to life and others? You read His love story, “The Bible". You close your eyes, open your heart, and give your soul permission to breathe!

Take His hand and allow Him to lead you on the most breathtaking journey!!!  Embrace all of His magnificent being!! The strong and wise Father! His tender-hearted Son, and His patient and loving Holy Spirit… Together, they are my three-in-one; they surpass all human logic !!! But on a spiritual level, they are the most precious treasure we could ever receive! How could we not just fall hopelessly in love!!  He is the ultimate sustainer…

It’s Him! It will always be Him!!

"Your words are what sustain me; they are food to my hungry soul. They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me." Jeremiah 15:16 TLB

Turning Away

·       "Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars." - Kahlil Gibran...

When someone carelessly opens a wound in your heart and selfishly turns away, it leaves you wondering—are they so self-absorbed that they can’t see the pain they’ve caused? Or is it something deeper?

No matter the reason, turning away doesn’t lessen the impact of their actions. It doesn’t erase the pain. It often makes the wound worse. It can linger, fester, and take much longer to heal.

That kind of response will always baffle me. I pray I never become that person. My heart wouldn’t allow my mind to rest knowing I caused that kind of pain to another. 💔

But then… I think of Jesus.

He knows this pain all too well.

He walked with twelve men, friends He trusted and loved. They professed their loyalty. They followed Him, and they spent time with Him. But when darkness fell, and things got hard...

He stood alone in His darkest hour.

One by one… they all turned away.

He stood silent with an aching heart, abandoned...

And yet—He loved them anyway. ❤️

I have trouble relating to that kind of love...selfless, forgiving, it's beyond comprehension...

It stretches further than the heavens and reaches deep into our brokenness. It leaves me speechless and in awe.

It makes me cry from the deepest part of my soul...

I can only whisper...

“Teach me how to love like you do.”

Through time and the gentle hand of my Father, I’ve tried to learn this:

When someone wounds you, and you resist the urge to respond with anger or distance… When you choose instead to love them, without conditions or expectations.

That’s when something beautiful happens.

That’s when transformation begins.

Chains break.

Wounds begin to heal.

And your heart opens to experience the deepest kind of love

a love rooted not in self, but in grace.

And in that love, you’ll discover a peace that words can’t describe.

A soothing balm for the soul. A quiet knowing that you are free... free to love as He loves.

Because our Father will never turn away.

Never.

His arms are always open.

His heart is always ready.

He WOWs me… every single time. 😍

It’s Him. It’s always Him.

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Resilience

Resilience is the soul that bends, but never breaks. Unshaken by the storm.”...

In the Bible, resilience, though not always explicitly named, is often portrayed as perseverance in faith and trust in God despite adversity. It's about enduring hardships, trials, and suffering while maintaining a steadfast belief in God's plan and ultimately emerging stronger and more faithful.

When I reflect on my life, I ask myself, Am I resilient? Or do I draw on my deepest reserves of courage to rise above? With a life that's been blessed with fewer hardships than many, I still face moments of truth, times when my resolve is shaken, and moments when all I want to do is pull the covers up and let the world spin without me.

I find solace in quiet reflection, it’s there I can recharge and tap into the inner strength that lies within every human being.

Did our Father instill this inner resilience within our soul at birth? Is it a divine spark within us, reserved for moments when we feel utterly exhausted? He has always been our guiding light, even when we failed to acknowledge Him. He has lifted us when we stumbled, whispering words of encouragement in our ear: 'You can do this, rise up!' Until seven years ago, I mistakenly believed I possessed the strength to navigate life's challenges alone. How naive I was! He is our rock, our strength, and the gentle voice that reassures us, 'My child, I am here; try again.' As we take our first steps, we hear Him whisper, 'I love you.'

It’s Him, it’s always Him!!

He cloaks my vulnerable heart with His resilient soul.

How could I not love Him with all that I am…

“And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty." Philippians 4:13 TPT

Jesus / Yeshua/Y'shua

“For God loved  the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

The meaning of the name Jesus is derived from the Hebrew name Yeshua/Y'shua, "to deliver; to rescue."

A simple search in the KJV shows that the name Jesus is used approximately 983 times in the New Testament.

We started a transformative Bible word study seven years ago, and since that inaugural day, December 14, 2019, we have explored over 770 words. Our journey through the Bible went from Genesis to Revelation and has been a profound dance of discovery. As we read and studied numerous scriptures and verses, we gained a deeper understanding of the extraordinary Man with a heavenly connection. This divine connection transcends human comprehension. His beautiful nature inspires us to hunger for more… for more of Him!

While many of us struggle to grasp the Trinity, we marvel at how they harmonize in such perfection.

I firmly believe that God sought to guide the diverse tribes of ancient times, but unfortunately, few were receptive to His teachings. Undeterred, He chose to walk among us, driven by three primary motivations. Firstly, to ascertain whether His expectations for humanity were achievable. Secondly, to illuminate the path to living and loving with purpose. And thirdly, to demonstrate the boundless love He has for each of His children.

Just think we are cherished so deeply by the one who created all the heavens and earth. His love is truly beyond words. I have discovered that the greatest lesson written in this masterpiece we call the Bible is His unwavering LOVE. He has proven He will go to any lengths to take care of the ones He loves. He will go from birth to death to prove His eternal love for each of us.

Many of my readers already know that I had a life-changing spiritual encounter, which redirected my life and ignited a love that had lain dormant within me. It left me hungry to chase Him with a soul-felt passion that I did not know existed. He has such transformative power in our lives.

He came to us as a child, He was graced with the holy Hebrew name Yahshua, which later transformed into Jesus after being translated from its original language. Jesus was gently placed in His earthly mother's womb with a sacred purpose. He arrived with a clear and resolute agenda from His Father. His mission was to mercifully deliver us from ourselves.

He devoted His entire life to us. Do you ever wonder why we do not possess many facts about Jesus, the young boy? Did we unwittingly deprive Him of His childhood? And then as He navigated through the master plan, He found Himself in one of the most horrific acts possible.

“The Cross”

When I reflect on this monumental moment, it profoundly saddens my heart and soul.  How could we do this to this beautiful, gentle soul? His mission was one of peace. He was sent because of love.

He never faltered, He never said,  I give up!! I'll just return to my heavenly home...

NO, He knew in His Heart that the only chance His children would have for redemption is to follow through with His Heavenly Father’s plan.

When we reflect on His life, how can we not be humbled? How can we not be in awe of the very mention of His name? I do know He has returned to His rightful place with the Trinity. Our amazing Father, His Beautiful Son, and God's very breath, we know as the Holy Spirit.

In unity, they embody the essence of unconditional love. This extraordinary love story continues to captivate and inspire us, reminding us of the profound impact they have on our daily lives.

He must have declared victoriously on that momentous day. Earth to Heaven… Mission accomplished… put a log on the fire, I am coming home! What a jubilant celebration there must have been in Heaven!! He must have received the most affectionate hug from His Father, as His Father tenderly whispered in his ear, Welcome Home, my beautiful Son. I love you; with you, I am infinitely pleased.

It’s Him!!! It is and forever will be Him!!!

Oh, how I love Him!!

“You are the most beautiful man that there is. You speak words of grace. God has made you special forever.”

Psalms 45:2 EASY

“For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.” Isaiah 53:2 KJV.

“Serve and worship the awe-inspiring God. Recognize his greatness and bow before him, trembling with reverence in his presence. Fall facedown before him and kiss the Son before his anger is roused against you. Remember that his wrath can be quickly kindled! But many blessings are waiting for all who turn aside to hide themselves in him!”Psalms 2:11-12 TPT

Chase

“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” - C.S. Lewis

I’m Meaning of chase the act of pursuing someone or something.

Chase is in the Bible approximately 47 times...

Have you ever heard the term play hard to get?  There is such a cat and mouse game in love...

When I cracked open the pages of the Bible and tried to chase the reason the word came to me today... I am sorry to report I was not successful in my quest. It did not take me where I wanted to go???

There many verses that speak of chase but most if not all point to the word enemy...Not to a love that is the life source of life and the reason this “Book” even exist...

I can only share my experience and thoughts... When I look back at my journey. It looks much like a courtship. I know that is a funny word. But please indulge me and let me expound...

I was not looking for God... I truly only knew of Him from movies... So, I did not know Him... I knew facts about His existence ... But one unexpecting day He introduced Himself to me. I was swept off my feet and as I tried to catch my breath. I found myself bewildered and confused... Because I had never felt a love like this!! And I did not know how to contain it nor did I even know how to share it... Wow!

He would come every day to share more and more... I found Him so loving. So mysterious So exciting...I could not wait to spend more time getting to know Him. I found I was getting to know Him a little deeper each time we met.... I did discover that He is greater and more powerful and any one we could ever encounter any where.  As the days passed there seemed to be a deep spiritual bond being built... I really did not even know how.... But I fell in love with who He is.. Not for what He could give me.. But for the kindness He showed! For the love He unselfishly gives.. For forgiving me for not chasing Him... Sooner...

I think my souI had been waiting for Him to make the first move... All I can say is He WOWs me!

I will admit there are days I feel He is just a little out if reach... And it makes my heart miss Him... It makes me long to talk to Him.. It makes me want to chase Him..

I think He knows the Art of LOVE and Romance better than any one....

He knows His distance will only make our soul crave His nearness...

I have given Him my heart and will not stop pursuing Him. I will chase Him until the day comes that I can look into His beautiful eyes  and say Thank you for making the first move!!!! 😁.

I think my soul has loved you long before I even met you!!!!

Don't be a looker!! be a chaser... your life will never be the same...

It's Him.. it's always Him!

He is relentless in His pursuit of His children.

People will say to you, "Look! There he is!' or "Look! Here he is!' But don't go and chase after him. Luke 17:23

Remain

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Psalm 27:14

In Scripture, the term “remain” (or “abide,” “dwell”) encompasses more than just staying in one place. It signifies being embraced. It represents a daily choice to stay connected to the One who never releases us.

This word appears over a thousand times in the Bible, not merely as repetition but as an invitation.

In this fragmented world...

Where His children forget, wander, betray, and cause pain?

How does our Heavenly Father uphold His everlasting love?

I don't understand this kind of love.

I found myself in a state of lingering on this thought... When He prompted me to go deeper ...

.

How do we stay loyal, loving, and kind when so many have been affected by madness, cruelty, and chaos?

Destruction and devastation are affecting us like a haunting nightmare. Many are buckling under the strain.

Hearts seem to be becoming detached and cold.

Are we teetering on the brink of something darker? Who orchestrates such despair...

Oh, God, please don’t let me go there. Don’t allow the rushing tide to pull me into this dark abyss.

Allow me to close my eyes to the chaos and just simply breathe!

Let me soak in the warmth of Your beautiful presence.

Let me stay focused on the greatest Love I have ever known.

Let me remain in this beautiful state..

 of loving You.

Flood my mind, body, and soul!

With Your forgiveness —

Your grace.

Your vastness.

And Your amazing, unfailing love!!!

Take my hand, Lord, and pull me close, let me bask in the flow of Your wonderful peace. You are my sweet surrender.

With you, the heaviness of this world begins to diminish.

Everything becomes crystal clear.

Our world is merely a temporary home.

You refresh my soul and leave my heart yearning for more...

You are my peace, my love, my escape... my eternal HOME.

It’s You.

It will always be You.

You are a treasure to behold.

Reflect by Joann Turnbull

Let’s pause for a moment and reflect....

The meaning of reflect:  To reflect deeply on a subject. To ponder or meditate depends on our fellowship with Him.

The thought of reflecting is used at least thirty times or more.

How often do we truly pause in the stillness of our lives to meditate on Jesus, the Son, the Father, and the Holy Spirit?

Do we ever sit quietly with a warm cup of coffee or tea, and let our thoughts drift to the wonder of who They are?

These words came to me as I reflected in quietness.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”

Jesus left the glory of Heaven to walk among us as a man. He stepped down from His throne, clothed Himself in humility, and took on the form of humanity. At His baptism, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him like a dove, marking a moment of Divine significance.

How did He relate to His brothers and sisters? How did He live among those who misunderstood Him? Scripture tells us He never sinned. The more I reflect on that, the more I marvel.  His entire earthly life—every thought, every word, every action—was without blemish.

He reached out to the broken.

He fed the hungry.

He healed the wounded.

He welcomed the children.

His teachings are profoundly life-changing.

And He understood the hearts of everyone He encountered.

How could anyone resist such relentless love and tender compassion? How can we not be so captivated by His presence that He fills our thoughts, not just in quiet moments, but always?

When I open the Bible during these reflections, I often feel as though the words were written just for me. Its pages speak truth, comfort, and direction. I find treasures there that I want to share with others. His heart is full of love, and that love is meant to be poured out.

The story of Zachaeus, a tax collector, comes to mind.  He was despised, dishonest, and hated by everyone.  Yet one day, Jesus saw him.   Rather than condemnation, Jesus offered him fellowship.

He said, "I must come to your house today and eat with you,”

That one encounter, His presence alone, was enough to transform his heart and redirect his life.

So, passionately seek Jesus.  Let His life, His words, and His love touch your heart.

In Him, you will find peace, purpose, and a love that never fails.

“Behold, I’m standing at the door, knocking. If your heart is open to hear my voice and you open the door within, I will come in to you and feast with you, and you will feast with me.”

Revelation 3:20 TPT
